Advice From The Comic Hack 140 – The “Salvaging A Friend And A Friendship, And Love Makes You Stupid” Edition

I wish poet, artist, rebel and road-weary handbag Bob Dylan had said “One cannot be both wise and in love”. I really like the sound of that; poetic, sophisticated, weighty. As it turns out Dylan actually said “You can’t be wise and in love at the same time.” Or we think he did… who can tell with that mumbler? Life is complex and tapestry, an intricate opera of lightning, thunder and blood made occasionally incomprehensible by the unintelligible warblings of a singing- songwriting folk hero. But she was miserable and talking about “getting her reward in the afterlife”. She won’t leave him because she loves him. When did love become the excuse to accept whatever bad behavior people wanted to foist on us?   In the very last article I wrote I believe I concentrated too much on the role of the “victim” in the horrible situation I was being asked about and not nearly enough on the role of the raging asshole who created this horrendous state of affairs. I received a blast of negative feedback and even some homework from some of...
